Matte Banni Preethsona Movie Review

Matte Banni Preethsona, an ‘effort’ by HP Ravindra Das and team, as he would like to call it, is a refreshing attempt to stand out from the crowd.
And the film scores some brownie points just because of that.
Now don’t raise your hopes to the sky; I’m Sorry, Matte Banni Preethsona is still a sugar coated love story which gets yawningly preachy at times. But the story takes an unexpected turn as a devoted husband gets proofs after proofs about the possible infidelity of his pencil figure wife. He is madly in love with her, but he stumbles on loads of proofs which indicate that his wife may be involved in a high profile prostitution racket. Bingo! The suspense builds up, and reaches a well narrated crescendo in the climax which is given a gutsy ending by the director.
Then, what could possibly go wrong in such a neat attempt? The culprit comes from an unsuspecting corner in form of dialogues. Almost all the characters in the film, from the leading actors to a beggar outside a temple launch into philosophical tirades in every other frame and it almost makes them look pretentious, to say the least. Add to that, the director has some childish notions about the way interviews are conducted. Sample this; in an interview for the job of an architect, the interviewer asks, “What brings efficiency in people? The candidate answers, “Hunger,” and bang, she gets the job!
