Hyderabad: South Indian superstar Chiranjeevi’s daughter Srija fell prey to the atrocities by her husband Sirish Bhardwaj over dowry. The distressed daughter of the actor has sought help from the Central Crime Station and has lodge a complaint against her husband Monday.
Srija was mentally and physically abused by Sirish since the past few months for dowry. However, she had voluntarily given him crores of rupees earlier. Despite having received a whopping amount, Sirish continued to harass her.
Talking to a daily, a CCS officer said, "But of late there has been no end to his greed and it has become a daily practice for him to get drunk and torture his wife." Reportedly, Sirish demanded Rs 1.5 crore from his wife.
The women police station of the CCS has filed a case against Sirish under section 498-A of the IPC.
Following which, Sirish was taken into custody. His parents will also be interrogated soon by the CCS.
Incidentally, Chiranjeevi had not approved of Srija’s marriage to Sirish. She went against her parents’ wishes and sought protection from her family in 2007.
